Our Story 📖✨

This charity began the day one survivor realized no one should carry the hardest parts of the fight against cancer alone.

Founded in 2021 by Nerijus Kaziela, Stage IVA cancer survivor, Banish Cancer was born after enduring 35 radiotherapy sessions and 11 chemotherapy cycles in one continuous stretch — followed shortly after by a COVID‑19 infection that arrived just as treatment ended, forcing even more isolation at the moment support was needed most.

The hardest battles came at night — when the fear grew louder, the pain sharpened, and the house felt impossibly silent, with no one to talk to as the silence closed in.

This absence of emotional care revealed a truth too often overlooked: healing is not only physical — it’s deeply emotional.

To reduce that fear, we began focusing on giving people clear, reliable information that brings confidence.

Out of that darkness, Banish Cancer was created so no one is left alone in their hardest mental‑battle nights — the nights that break you mentally before the physical battles even begin.

Today, the charity shares prevention strategies, survivor stories, and clear explainers that provide reliable educational information.

From Recovery to Action 💪➡️🚀

Four months into recovery, the charity’s first initiative began: free transport for cancer patients to and from chemo and radiotherapy sessions, easing the burden of treatment travel. This was soon followed by healthy food supply drops and partial bill support — practical help designed to reduce stress and restore dignity during treatment.

As the charity grew, we realized we could create a deeper, more lasting impact by focusing on emotional support and accessible education.

While these services are no longer offered, they laid the foundation for today’s mission: Fear Response AI is in development — a presence that listens and stands with you when fear presses hardest. Alongside it, we’re creating self‑guided educational courses for patients, families, and friends, tools that help people feel more informed and emotionally supported as they move through treatment and recovery.

Because when the darkest hours hit and silence grows loud, there will still be someone to listen, to comfort, and to keep the conversation alive.

Banish Cancer is a registered charity in Lithuania under the name Banish Cancer (Registered Charity Number: 305706884). Our legal headquarters are in Kaunas, but our operations are fully online, allowing us to support people anywhere in the world.

Banish Cancer holds Public Benefit Organization (PBO) status in Lithuania, authorizing us to receive tax‑free sponsorship and donations for charitable purposes.
